Call for Nominations to the Preparatory Commission Advisory Board

In accordance with the Commission on 02/05/2013 (PC-013/02/0501), an advisory board will be established to support the Commission in the foundation of the WNO. After the implementation of the WNO Treaty, the board supports the Commission with programming concerns. The members of the advisory board are comprised of representatives of the future member states and will be named by the Commission.

The Commission invites all governments that have already delivered a letter of intent with regard to membership, or those that intend a deposit a corresponding note, to promptly nominate a representative for the advisory board.

1)     Requirements for acceptance onto the advisory board:

a)     The candidate is already in the environmental field and/or is active in inter-governmental organizations.

b)     The candidate already has their office in Switzerland and will preferably remain there for the coming 24 months.

c)      The nominated government releases the candidates for the participation in the meetings of the advisory board, as well as for additional consultation activities.

2)    Basic data concerning work for the advisory board:

a)     The board establishes up to three meetings per quarter. The participation in 2/3 of these meetings in obligatory. The participation of a representative is admissible.

b)     The meetings take place alternatively in the missions of the participating states in Geneva or in the spaces of the Commission.  The Commission can propose additional conference locations.

c)      Participation on the advisory board is not remunerated by the Commission because the retention of the activities up until now are not significantly affected.

d)     Members of the advisory board will be given preferable treatment for later job positions at the WNO.

e)     The working language of the advisory board is English.

3)    Expiration of the nomination

a)     The government or the permanent mission nominates a participant the submission of a corresponding note as well as their CV.

b)     The Commission will deal with the candidates at the following meeting and inform the mission within six weeks regarding the decision.
